Bringing “Into The Dark” to Light

Short version
I’ve just released a single on a new label by a Berlin-based music community.
Long version
Hello everyone, I wanted to give you a quick update on what I’ve been working on musically. First of all, thanks for taking the time to read this article. I really appreciate that. Music is a big part of who I am, so I’m especially excited to share this update with you.
Over a year ago, I joined Full Orchestra, a community of musicians based in Berlin. Every two months, the organizer Gautier shares a selection of samples with us. We vote for our favorite, and everyone creates a track using that same sample. Later, we get together to listen to each other’s work and offer feedback. The only rule is simple: use the chosen sample in your composition and upload it to the website.
I really enjoy these challenges because they push me to be creative with sounds I wouldn’t normally use. The listening sessions are also a great way to connect with other artists and exchange helpful, constructive feedback.
After a couple of listening sessions, Gautier and I had dinner, and we discussed how he could develop the Full Orchestra project into a record label to support artists from the community. I sent him a selection of my unreleased demos, which I had produced over the last few years, and he really enjoyed them. He then offered to release an EP of my music on the label.
He then sought a talented mastering engineer and was contacted by Philipp Reif, a highly experienced and award-winning sound engineer based in Berlin, who had worked with distinguished artists for various labels, including Deutsche Grammophon and Sony Music, and broadcasting companies like the BBC in London or Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg (RBB). He is very familiar with electronic music, having regularly worked with David August, who is one of my favorite artists.
Philipp deeply appreciated the aim of Full Orchestra to help new talented musicians with meaningful opportunities and a supportive environment. After listening to my compositions, he decided to help us in his free time, alongside his recordings at the Berliner Philharmoniker.
We organized a session in his music studio in Berlin, where he walked us through the edits and fine adjustments he made to the mix and master, so that I could learn from them. It was a great experience to receive direct feedback from a music industry professional and to observe how he works, allowing me to learn a couple of valuable tricks.

On July 25th, we just released the title track from my upcoming EP “Into the Dark” as a single. The ethereal vocals from a Berlin-based artist evoke a sudden urge to be in nature at night and escape the city's busy streets:
Oh I wish I could go outside in the middle of the night
Run out into the dark
Far from all the street lights
And I wish I could stay there on my own I'm at ease
I'll hear birds in the trees
I'm not scared of what I may see
This highlights the tension and harmony I’m trying to find between urban life and nature, capturing the quiet beauty of wandering alone through a park and reflecting about my life in Berlin. The tone and lyrics of the vocals inspired me to compose this downtempo electronica journey, blending emotive chords, shimmering arps, and pitch-bent synthesizers. The percussion combines electronic and organic sounds, including a hi-hat created from a recording of me sticking a stick into the snow in the Alps years ago.
Berlin, with its sprawling parks, hidden gardens, and tree-lined streets, is one of the greenest cities in Europe, a quality that makes living here uniquely inspiring. It’s not unusual to find moments of calm and connection to nature even in the heart of the city, and that balance between the urban and the natural deeply informs the sound and feel of this EP.
The artwork created by Gautier also ties into these themes, depicting a surrealistic green field perched atop a rooftop in Berlin. A central theme throughout the project. Just like the music, the image blends the organic with the artificial in a dreamlike way, suggesting moments of stillness and shared reflection in the middle of the city.
